1. Mass Low Quality Guest Posting: - Mass Low-Quality Guest Posting Earlier, people used to publish 100-plus guest posts on low quality websites. But Google caught it. In a recent case study by the Search Engine General, an e-commerce website was analysed, which invested 200-plus low-quality guest posts. But there was no significant ranking improvement in 6 months. Guest posting can still work, but only on high-quality relevant websites. And the content should be absolutely valuable. Focus more on quality than quantity.
2. PNB Networks: - Next outdated strategy is Private Block Network or PBNs, which have become absolutely risky in 2025. Google used machine learning to target PBNs in the December 2024 core update. Many website rankings disappeared overnight because they used PBNs. Taking a risk is absolutely not worth it. 5. Exact-Match Anchor Text Overuse: - 5th outdated strategy is Exact Match Anchored Text Overuse. Earlier, people used exact keywords in every backlink. But in 2025, this is an immediate red flag. For example, if you want to rank for best running shoes, and in 80% backlinks, exact best running shoes use anchored text, then Google will understand that it is artificial link building. 6. Buying Links from link Farms: - 6th outdated strategy is Link Farm. Buying a link from a link farm. These websites exist only to sell links. And do not provide any real value. Google has improved its spam detection algorithm. And now it can easily identify when you buy a link from a suspicious source. Buying 100 links from Fiverr or cheap link building services for $5 or $10 is a complete waste of money. And this can cause a penalty on your website. 7. Website Footer Links: - 7th outdated strategy is Site Wide Footer Links. Earlier, people used to put their website's link in the footer of another website. So that backlinks can be found from every page. But in 2025, Google understands very clearly that this link is not a natural engagement. Instead, it is a paid placement. That's why they get less value or are completely ignored. This approach is outdated and ineffective for your brand. According to Neel Patel's analysis, Site wide Footer Links' impact has been in a consistent decline since 2022. And it has become almost negligible in 2025.
8. Articles Directories: - Last outdated strategy is Article Directories. Platforms like Ezine Articles or article-based content submission used to work before. But now it has become completely valueless. These platforms generally have low-quality content. And Google's Panda and subsequent updates have penalized them.
